Villars chocolate bars: ancestral expertise

Making chocolate is a long, technical and delicate process: selecting the cocoa beans, roasting, conching, adding high-end ingredients... So much more so when it is being done by real master chocolatiers. Thanks to the complexity of the process, we can offer you over 50 chocolate bars as diverse as they are varied.

Swiss cow’s milk

In a milk chocolate bar cocoa isn’t everything. Milk from cows grazing on Swiss pastures brings an unrivalled creamy texture and characteristic aromatic notes. Try our 3 bar “Swiss Milks” tasting box and you’ll be convinced. You will notice the subtle differences between milk from Bern, Vaud and also Fribourg, the home of our chocolate factory. Our Pure Collection celebrates the distinctions between the different types of Swiss chocolate: sweeter white chocolate with a touch of Madagascan vanilla, old-fashioned milk chocolate, the fusion of Milk & Dark or the most intense in our range: the pure dark chocolate bar with 85% cocoa content!

Rigorously selected cocoa beans

Just like the milk, the terroir gives its cocoa beans all their characteristic features. Our batches of cocoa are selected for their aromatic palette reflecting the selected origin, the sustainability of the plantation and the cocoa varieties, the quality of the cocoa fermentation and the quality of the storage and packaging of the beans

The cocoa beans used come from different countries depending on the desired end flavour, cocoa content, recipe and ingredients added to the bars: Ghana, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Madagascar, Guatemala, etc. Our organic and fair trade cocoa beans, for example, come from Peru for a 72% cocoa content and crunchy cocoa pieces.

Premium ingredients first and foremost

To make our chocolate bars, firstly we ensure that all their ingredients are of excellent quality. This is true for the milk and the cocoa beans. It is also true for all the other ingredients. Even our sugar comes from Swiss sugar cooperatives. Hazelnuts for our milk chocolate crispy praline bar, the famous Italian candied orange, nougat, liqueurs and spirits from Swiss terroirs or more exotic climes: all are carefully selected. Remember that we have 12 liqueur chocolate bars, a real tradition for Maison Villars. In 1935, the founder of Villars master chocolatier Wilhelm Kaiser invented liqueur chocolate bars, a world first that symbolised the creation of new flavours and the inventiveness in chocolate that continues to this day.
